Community Awareness and Engagement

WLAC utilizes all opportunities available such as awareness campaigns, community structural system, and engage media at large to sensitize community members on civic and socio-economic rights and fight against all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). These interventions contribute toward building a well-informed Community that respects and takes action to safeguard the rights of women, children and refugees in the society. WLAC is implementing a Tunaweza campaign which is responding and protecting women and girl children against gender-based violence and violence against girl child. Child protection is an area of priority to WLAC with several projects conducted to ensure protection of children and safeguarding their rights.

Womens Land and Property rights

WLAC is strengthening Womens Land and property right to access, own, and benefit from land and other property for their social and economic empowerment, as part of the lesson learned from implementing several projects and strategies in addressing womens rights. WLAC is aware of the importance of advancing womens land rights to women themselves and the Community with correct information and messages. Its more likely to change cultural practices that undermine womens rights and have community support for protecting womens land and property rights. Therefore, WLAC is utilizing all opportunities available such as awareness campaigns, community structural systems, and media engagement, to sensitize community members on womens social and economic rights, focusing on land and property rights. These interventions contribute toward building a sound informed Community that respects and takes action to safeguard the rights of women and girls in the society.
