Access to justice remains a significant challenge for women and girls, particularly survivors of violence, discrimination, and socio-economic exclusion. Barriers such as limited access to quality legal aid, low awareness of legal rights, gender-insensitive justice systems, and harmful social norms continue to undermine womens ability to seek and obtain justice in Tanzania.
Under this thematic area, WLAC aims to strengthen access to justice and advocate for gender-responsive policy reforms that advance womens rights and gender equality. WLAC will improve access to quality, survivor centered legal aid services, strengthen protection and redress mechanisms for survivors of rights violations, and empower women and girls with the knowledge and confidence to claim their legal rights through community-based legal awareness initiatives.
